How Rising Light is supporting our Most vulnerable neighbors and rebuilding community
Rising Light Relief provides hot meals to 450 individuals. Our focus is on the elderly, disabled, & those who lost their vehicles or homes to the storm.
We rotate routes, serving 200 one day and 250 the next. All delivery drivers are volunteers and food is provided via donations. No community members pay to receive any meals or supplies from Rising Light.
When Rising Light delivers warm meals directly to peoples' homes, we also provide essential welfare checks for many of the most vulnerable community members.
With each meal, we provide some camaraderie and fellowship, and check what supplies are needed. We then hand deliver those supplies with the next meal.
The food we distribute is currently provided through a direct partnership with World Central Kitchen. Supplies that we distribute to the community are provided through amazing volunteers, donors and community partners from all over the country.
